A series of gas explosions in the southern Taiwan city of Kaohsiung killed dozens people, shook buildings, shattered windows, flipped cars and shot flames at least nine metres into the air.
Witnesses reported gas leaks around 9 p.m. local time, which formed a white fog and then ignited causing massive explosions on several streets.
Kaohsiung is home to more than 2.7 million people.
The images and videos below are unverified, but were all posted to social media from areas near where the explosions took place.
The caption on the first video translates to "Burnt smell outside, fire truck sirens can be heard everywhere, reports continue to flow in about the disaster, hope everyone is safe."
