TORONTO -- The Blue Jays have reportedly struck a deal with free agent catcher Dioner Navarro.

FoxSports.com reports that the former Cub has agreed to a two-year deal worth US$8 million pending a physical.

The Blue Jays had no comment on the report.

The 29-year-old hit .300 with a career-high 13 home runs in 89 games for the Cubs last season.

The 10-year veteran from Venezuela has also played for the Rays, Yankees, Dodgers and Reds.

He has a career .251 batting average with 54 home runs and 243 RBIs.

The reported acquisition raises questions about the future of incumbent catcher J.P. Arencibia.
