TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts are returning to Guelph.
A CFL source said Monday the Argos have decided to hold their training camp at the University of Guelph.
The source added the Toronto club will make the official announcement Tuesday.
Toronto has held training camp the last two years at York University.
But the Argos called Alumni Stadium, where the OUA's Guelph Gryphons play, home during training camp through much of the 1980s and '90s.
The staging of training camp in Guelph will mark yet another return for the Argos in 2016.
The CFL team will play its home games this season at a refurbished BMO Field on the CNE grounds.
Toronto played 30 seasons at Exhibition Place (1959-88) before heading to the domed Rogers Centre in 1989.
Rogers Centre had a capacity exceeding 52,000 for football but the Argos struggled to attract spectators as last year's attendance dropped to 12,431 after averaging 17,791 in 2014.
The major complaints among fans was the proximity of the field as well a cold and antiseptic atmosphere.
The football capacity at BMO Field -- owned by the City of Toronto and operated by Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, the owners of Toronto FC -- will be roughly 27,000 and is expected to provide fans with a cozier, more intimate setting.
The 2016 season will culminate with the Grey Cup game at BMO Field, with capacity being boosted to around 38,000 for the title game.
