The three major parties remain in a statistical tie in overnight polling by Nanos Research for CTV and The Globe and Mail, with no party breaking away from the pack.

The latest numbers for the three leading parties:

  • Conservatives: 28.6 %
  • NDP: 30.6 %
  • Liberals: 32.1 %

Voters were asked: "If a federal election were held today, could you please rank your top two current local voting preferences?"

The daily tracking figures are based on a three-day rolling sample comprised of 1,200 interviews. The margin of error for a survey of 1,067 decided voters is ±3.0 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

Although the Liberals and the NDP still register higher numeric support compared to the Conservatives in the tracking completed last evening, the Conservatives were close behind at 29 per cent.

Second Choice:

• There continues to be a high level of potential crossover between the Liberals and the NDP.

• Fifty-seven per cent of Liberals identify the NDP as their second choice (13 per cent of Liberals said they had no second choice), while 50 per cent of NDP supporters said their second choice was the Liberal (15 per cent of NDP supporters said they had no second choice).

• Twenty-eight per cent of Conservatives said the Liberals were their second choice, followed by 18 per cent who said the NDP were their second choice (45 per cent of Conservatives said they had no second choice).

Poll Methodology:

A national dual-frame (land and cell) random telephone survey is conducted nightly by Nanos Research throughout the campaign using live agents. Each evening a new group of 400 eligible voters are interviewed. The daily tracking figures are based on a three-day rolling sample comprised of 1,200 interviews. To update the tracking a new day of interviewing is added and the oldest day dropped. The margin of error for a survey of 1,200 respondents is ±2.8 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
