A little-known neighbourhood in west Toronto has caught Airbnb’s eye, making the list of locales that the short-term rental booking website says will be hot in 2017.

Rockcliffe-Smythe, a leafy residential neighbourhood located northwest of the city centre, ranked sixth out of 17 neighbourhoods in cities around the world that Airbnb expects will be trendy in 2017.

Airbnb compiles the annual list based on an analysis of the travel patterns by their guests, as well as their listings. According to Airbnb, Rockcliffe-Smythe has seen nearly 500 per cent growth in terms of bookings in 2016. Topping Airbnb’s list this year was Milneburg in New Orleans, which experienced a whopping 1,500 per cent growth in 2016.

Rockcliffe-Smythe is located about 15 kilometres from the downtown core, and does indeed boast vast green space, including hiking trails and parks, as well as restaurants and attractive shops.
