Ottawa police have picked up 24 people in a city-wide prostitution sweep.

A total of 14 women and 10 men were arrested between Wednesday and Thursday. Police say though seven of the men qualify for John School, all others will face a total of 46 criminal charges in court.

John School is a pre-charge diversion program. To qualify to attend the school, a "john" must be over 18 years old, a first-time offender with no criminal record, and must show remorse for his behaviour. If the john attends the program, no charges are laid against him.

In this two-day sweep police targeted street-level prostitution in Ottawa's Vanier, Hintonburg, and Centretown communities.
