FREDERICTON - Organ donations in New Brunswick have resumed after they were briefly suspended following a Health Canada inspection that found problems with documentation.

The province's Health Department says it was notified Thursday by Health Canada that the program was compliant again with national regulations after the problems were found last week.

In one case, necessary information about a donor with tattoos was not obtained, but the department said the mistake was caught in time and the recipient was fine.

Health Minister Madeleine Dube says the province must improve its documentation practices and she has promised that a quality assurance program will be implemented by the fall.

Dube says she is relieved that an organ donation was not refused in the week that the program was suspended.
