Comedian Anna Faris stars in Air New Zealand's latest in-flight safety video, which instructs fliers on how to don their oxygen mask and find their nearest exits in different film genres.

Faris, whose Hollywood credits include “Scary Movie” and the TV series “Mom,” follows in some big footsteps literally and figuratively, as other Air New Zealand safety video stars include Betty White and “The Lord of the Rings” hobbits.

In the latest video, Faris plays a cop, old Western cowboy, lovelorn Parisian and axe-wielding murderer in a series of sketches opposite New Zealand comedian Rhys Darby.

"I really wanted to be part of this project because Air New Zealand has redefined safety videos with its fun and creative approach. It's so easy to tune out when watching a traditional safety video, so it comes as such a delightful surprise when you get something that's really funny and engaging,” Faris said in a statement.

The video was shot at the Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles.

The flagship carrier of New Zealand and Middle-earth reset the standard in what used to be generic in-flight safety videos with the release of “An Unexpected Briefing” in 2012, enlisting orcs, elves, hobbits and dwarves to instruct fliers on how to fasten their seatbelt.

In 2013, the airline also enlisted “Golden Girl” Betty White and “Love Boat” captain Gavin MacLeod.

Collectively, Air New Zealand's videos have attracted more than 50 million online views.
