Television host George Stroumboulopoulos says he is “heartbroken” to learn that a friend who was staying in his Los Angeles residence has been killed.

Richard Hong, a Canadian actor who lived in Los Angeles, died of blunt force trauma during a burglary reported early Friday morning, according to Los Angeles police.

“I only have a few details but it seems like it was the result of a break in,” Stroumboulopoulos wrote on Facebook Friday afternoon.

“The victim was a dear friend of mine, who was staying at my place while I was away,” he added. Stroumboulopoulos added that he had left New York for Los Angeles.

“There's so much to say but I'm at a loss for words so just love your people and I will have more to say when we know more about what happened,” he went on.

Sgt. Barry Montgomery from LAPD media relations said police responded to reports of a burglary in West Hollywood around 2 a.m. Friday.

Stroumboulopoulos hosted numerous shows on Much Music, a talk show called “The Hour” and “Hockey Night in Canada.”
