Police are investigating after a brawl broke out in the parking lot of a Toronto-area Costco store.

The video, captured on Saturday afternoon, shows two couples exchanging insults outside the store in Mississauga, Ont.

“I heard the argument…and started shooting video,” Joe, the man who captured the footage, told CTV News Channel on Monday.

“I thought I can’t go anywhere, so I may as well start shooting video hoping that it was going to defuse the situation. People usually see somebody shooting video and they stop.”

One of the women was then shoved to the ground before fists went flying between the two men involved. Several passersby helped separate the two men. Costco staff also helped defuse the situation, Joe said.

Officers were called to the scene at around 2:15 p.m.

Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs said the altercation appears to have been over a parking spot.

Gibbs said no charges have been laid, but police are still investigating the incident.

Police say those involved suffered only minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Joe said he hopes the video will serve as a lesson to anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation.

“It’s really sad to see that this happened and I hope people can learn from this,” he said. “It only takes like two minutes to go find a different spot.”
