Along with being the country’s capital, Ottawa has captured another title: Canada’s least faithful city.
New data released by AshleyMadison.com ahead of Valentine’s Day shows Ottawa once again takes the top spot as the city with the most cheaters per capita, followed by Calgary and Edmonton.
Ottawa also saw the highest rate of new memberships and the highest rate of female members at 36 per cent, compared to the national average of 33 per cent.
Some 55,000 members, or one in 20 residents, are registered with AshleyMadison.com – an online dating site targeted at those who are already in relationships – in the Ottawa area alone.
The company says it signed up 240,000 Canadians throughout 2012.
The website’s list of Canada’s list least faithful cities include:

- Calgary
- Edmonton
- Saskatoon
- Toronto
- Halifax
- Vancouver
- London, Ont.
- Regina
- Montreal
Similarly, Washington D.C. takes the crown as America’s least faithful city for the second year in a row.
The founder of website, Toronto-based Noel Boderman, told the Ottawa Sun he’s not surprised that Canada’s political hub has topped the list of most adulterous cities, with many “risk-takers” calling the capital their home.
Launched in 2002, AshleyMadison.com has signed up more than 17 million users in 25 countries.
