U.S .President Barack Obama gave Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" script signed by director J.J. Abrams when he visited Washington D.C. in March, according to a registry kept by the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner.

All public officeholders and their family members who receive gifts worth at least $200 are required to make a declaration to the ethics watchdog within 30 days.

Trudeau is known to be a devoted fan of the franchise. He and his wife Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau posed for photographers dressed as Han Solo and Princess Leia last Halloween.

Trudeau even gave an impromptu review of Return of the Jedi for CBC reporters after attending a screening with his father.

"It was better than 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'Star Wars.' At least I think so," he said at age 11.

Trudeau’s family didn’t leave the U.S. capital emptyhanded. The president and first lady presented their Canadian counterparts with an olive branch sculpture by Maryland artist Zachary Oxman. The children received scooters, blocks, a Bo Obama “The First Dog” stuffed toy, as well as children’s books authored by Obama.
