Several people suffered injuries after a tour bus crashed on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, N.S., on Sunday afternoon.

Police confirmed to CTV News that one person is in serious condition and nine others have less serious injuries after the bus lost control and rolled over into a ditch shortly before 2:30 p.m.

A total of 21 people, including the bus driver, were travelling in the vehicle at the time.

Nova Scotia RCMP say one person has been airlifted from the scene, which is located approximately three kilometres south of Neil’s Harbour.

RCMP Sgt. Brigdit Leger told CTV Atlantic that the rollover happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

“It ended up rolling onto its side and going into the ditch,” Leger said.

A section of the Cabot Trail was shut down, but one lane has since reopened.

The passengers were reportedly all seniors visiting from the U.S.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
