1. Canadian sites hit with cyberattacks: The father of a teen charged with faking 911 calls says vigilante hackers are responsible for a series of disruptions on police and federal government websites in Ontario. He says the hackers are trying to clear his son's name, and plan to release documents that will prove the teen was falsely accused.

2. Soldier death: A Canadian soldier has died after what's being described as a freak accident at CFB Petawawa in Ontario. Craftsman Kyle Sinclair was changing the oil on a military patrol vehicle when the ejector seat suddenly deployed, causing the head injury that led to his death. He will be remembered at a private parade at CFB Petawawa on Monday.

3. Farewell, Marion Barry: The former Washington D.C. mayor whose political life was overshadowed his 1990 arrest after he was caught on videotape smoking crack cocaine died Sunday at age 78. U.S. President Barack Obama remembered Barry as a civil rights leader who was dedicated to lifting people out of poverty.

4. Road to Grey Cup: The Calgary Stampeders won the CFL's Western Final and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were triumphant in the East on Sunday, setting the stage for a Grey Cup showdown between the two teams on Nov. 30 in Vancouver. Calgary will be the favourite to win, while the Ticats will look for redemption after falling short in last year's Grey Cup game.

5. Swift, Minaj rock AMAs: Boy band One Direction and Katy Perry won three awards each at the 42nd annual American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Taylor Swift, who opened the show with a fiery performance of her hit “Blank Space,” received the first-ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence.  Perry, who didn’t attend the show, also made headlines Sunday when the NFL announced the pop star will be headlining the Super Bowl’s halftime show in February.
