The BBC's "Top Gear" program has finished its last season, and its famous "reasonably-priced car" has been sold for charity at an auction for just under $26,500.

The 1.6-liter Vauxhall Astra was used by celebrities competing to drive the fastest around the Top Gear track. Because of modifications carried out on the vehicle, the BBC has specified that it should not be driven on public roads for safety reasons.

Celebrities who drove the Astra during its time on Top Gear include Will Smith, Hugh Jackman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Margot Robbie and Rachel Riley.

The $26,500 sale price is double that of the vehicle's original retail cost. Sixty-seven bids were made in total.
