Honda continued to reveal precursors its ever-expanding lineup of all-new Civic models, by unveiling a prototype of its soon-to-arrive five-door hatchback variant at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

The much-anticipated return of the hatchback to Canada follows a lengthy hiatus, and if history repeats itself, the forthcoming production version of the car won't sway too far from this edgy, Euro-inspired concept car.

At last year's New York Auto Show, the 2016 Civic Coupe was first revealed in concept form, and much of what we saw was retained in the production version coupe. For the final production version of the hatch, we can likely expect some toning down of the strong, sharp angles and sculpting.

This new hatchback prototype will make its North American debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show on March 22, and specific details about its Canadian release are expected closer to that time. Other new models yet to come include the SI and Type R.
