Besides bargain prices, the annual Black Friday retail sales across the United States have become virtually synonymous with one thing: violence. The reports are so frequent, and the interest in them so high, a U.S. website is now tracking the number of deaths and injuries associated with the consumer frenzy.

The website, BlackFridayDeathCount.com, has compiled a list of deaths and injuries related to Black Friday shopping incidents since 2006, and reports that there have been a total of seven deaths and 89 injuries caused by hysterical shoppers and massive crowds all fighting for the best Black Friday bargains.

The site lists disturbing reports of shoppers being shot, stabbed, pepper-sprayed and trampled while trying to snag the latest deals.

This year’s Black Friday events appear no different, with reports of 15 people injured and one death -- a teenager from South Carolina who died after falling asleep at the wheel while returning home from shopping.
