Police have charged a teenager months after a bus fare dispute turned violent. In the afternoon of Oct. 27, police said a dispute broke out between a Winnipeg Transit bus operator and a rider in the area of Gateway and Springfield roads. Winnipeg police said in a media release Monday that they were arguing over bus fare when the driver was shot in the hand with a pellet gun. The suspect left the scene, and the driver was sent to hospital for minor injuries. Monday, police said its Major Crimes Unit identified a 14-year-old male suspect. He was arrested at his East Kildonan home on Sunday. The teen is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment, and two counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking. He was detained in custody. The teen cannot be identified as he is a minor.
