The City of Winipeg is looking to grow a community garden at the Old Exhibition Grounds. On Wednesday, the city issued a request for tenders in search of a company to create a garden near the intersection of Sinclair Street and Dufferin Avenue. According to the request, the work involves protecting the existing infrastructure while also bringing in planter boxes, trees, shrubs, perennials, picnic tables and a fountain. The work also includes sodding, installing a wood mulch pathway, building a concrete sidewalk and landscape maintenance. The city has $675,000 available for this project and wants it done by July of next year. The closing date for the bid is Aug. 14 at 4 p.m. More information is available online.
