A member of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) has been charged for allegedly breaching a provision of his protection order while on duty. According to Winnipeg police, the incident took place on July 15 when the accused was in full WFPS uniform and operating a fleet vehicle. Police allege the 59-year-old man drove to an area in violation of a protection order that requires him to keep a certain distance from a protected person. Police were notified of the situation and the domestic violence unit took over the investigation. The accused was arrested on Tuesday and charged with disobeying an order of the court. He is in custody and the charge has not been proven in court. Police note work-related considerations are taken into account for protection orders and the accused was working modified duties at the time of the incident.
