Two men have been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault following a wellbeing call to police over the weekend. The Winnipeg Police Service said it responded to a wellbeing call in the 400 block of Keenleyside Street on Saturday just after 5 p.m. Officers found an injured 20-year-old man who was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he later died due to his injuries. Police identified the victim as Nikolas Bear, a member of Berens River First Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg. Police said an 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene. A 19-year-old man was arrested a few hours later in the 500 block of St. Mary’s Road. Both men were detained in custody and charged with manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault, according to police.
