A wind warning has been issued for parts of Manitoba as stormy weather is rolling through the province. Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre is reporting strong winds in central and southern Manitoba from Monday into Tuesday. Average wind speeds could hit between 45 and 60 kilometres an hour before increasing Tuesday to up to 75 km/h, with gusts topping out as high as 95 km/h. “These winds may result in significant wind setup and wave action along the south basin of Lake Manitoba, as well as shorelines near Gimli on the west side and Victoria Beach on the east side of Lake Winnipeg, with temporary water-level increases of five feet or more possible in the most affected areas,” the province said in its wind alert release. Those who own property along shorelines are being told by the province to take precautions. A map showing affected areas can be found online.
