Man found dead in Dufferin area shooting: police

One man is dead and another is in custody following a fatal shooting in the Dufferin neighbourhood.

Winnipeg police said one man was killed in a shooting in the Dufferin area late last week.

On Dec. 12, just after 3 p.m., police were called to a home in the 1300 block of Arlington Street for a disturbance.

When they arrived, officers found a man dead from a gunshot wound. Police have identified the victim as 37-year-old Caleb Joshua Johnston.

Days later, police arrested 32-year-old Hugh Keith Switzer, charging him with second-degree murder along with various firearm possession charges.

The charges against Switzer have not been tested in court. Police said he has been detained in police custody.
