Man charged after teen attacked with machete: Manitoba RCMP

A 56-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences after two teenagers were injured in separate attacks, one involving a machete, Mounties say.

According to RCMP, officers with the Powerview, Man. detachment learned a 16-year-old boy went to the hospital in Pine Falls on Aug. 30 with serious injuries caused by a machete.

Mounties started to investigate and found another victim, a 17-year-old boy, at a home in the same community. The boy suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries from an unknown weapon.

Both teens were taken to a Winnipeg hospital for treatment.

RCMP spoke with community members and found a suspect, learning he was also allegedly in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident.

The suspect was arrested at his home in Pine Falls on Sept. 13.

He was charged with multiple offences, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and several firearm-related offences.

He was taken into custody and the charges have not been proven in court.
