Large industrial park planned for CentrePort

A 700-acre industrial park could be built in Winnipeg’s inland port.

Mayor Scott Gillingham says the project, which is planned for CentrePort, is believed to be the largest industrial park proposal in Winnipeg.

The mayor says this is an exciting development that would bring high-wage jobs to the city.

He says the aerospace sector has already expressed interest in the site.

Gillingham says the Jessiman family is behind the project known as Catalyst Park.

But little is known about the timelines around the approval process or when potential construction could begin.

The mayor has taken a preemptive step by writing a letter of support to the city hall community committee that would vote on a future development plan.

“While I do so rarely out of respect for City Council’s rules and traditions, I will be exercising my authority as Mayor to actively support projects like Catalyst Park in CentrePort South,” said Gillingham. “I will do so while remaining open-minded to objections or concerns raised at any public hearing, as required by law.”
