Manitoba’s police watchdog is investigating after a cyclist and police cruiser were involved in a crash last week. Winnipeg police said officers were responding to a call on Aug. 7, just before 9 p.m. The officers were driving westbound on Portage Avenue at Garry Street. Police said the officers were driving through the intersection when they crashed with a woman on her bike going northbound on Garry. The officers got out of their vehicle and treated the 37-year-old woman. She was taken to hospital in stable condition. The incident is considered serious and now the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating. No other details are available at this time.
