Manitoba health officials are reporting five new measles exposures in southern Manitoba in recent days. Three of the exposures took place in Morden. One was at the Home Hardware store between 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 11, and those at the store between those dates and times are asked to monitor symptoms until Jan. 2, 2026. The other two exposures in Morden took place on Dec. 20 at the Friendship Centre from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and at the Access Event Centre between 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Anyone at those locations are asked to monitor their symptoms until Jan 11. Another exposure took place at a Christmas gathering near Miami on Dec. 20 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Those at the gathering are asked to monitor symptoms until Jan. 11. In Winnipeg, there was an exposure at the Health Sciences Centre Children’s Hospital emergency department on Dec. 27 from 2:10 a.m. to 6 a.m. People are being asked to monitor their symptoms until Jan. 18. The province recommends people at the exposure locations check their vaccination status and get the measles vaccine if they haven’t received one. There have been 290 cases of measles in Manitoba since Feb. 2025, according to provincial data.
