Fire crews called to grass fire near Transcona

Residents are asked to be cautious after a grass fire in the Kildare-Redonda area.

The City of Winnipeg said crews were called to the fire in the 1800 block of Wabasha Street at 2:18 p.m. Wildland firefighting equipment was used to fight the fire.

It was declared under control an hour and a half later.

The city said there are no damage estimates available and no buildings were impacted. The fire is under investigation.

Residents are being told to be cautious when conditions are drier than usual. This includes storing firewood 10 metres away from structures, ensuring plants on your property are pruned and watered, and only using approved fire pits.
