Emergency services have officially returned to the Dauphin Regional Health Centre following over two months of flood-related repairs. On Tuesday, the Manitoba government announced the opening of a temporary emergency department on the main floor of the Dauphin hospital. In-house x-rays and lab services are also available, with a mobile CT unit expected within the coming weeks. The emergency department will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “There is still a lot more work to do to fully restore the hospital and bring more services back to Dauphin, said Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara. “I want to thank the nurses, physicians, allied health professionals and all the health-care workers who continued caring for patients throughout this disruption and worked tirelessly to make this reopening possible.” The government said work continues to restore other hospital services, including surgery and endoscopy. The Dauphin Regional Health Centre closed at the beginning of July after floodwaters caused extensive damage to the facility. During the closure, residents were forced to go to nearby hospitals for emergency services.
