After just one full day of fall, parts of southern Manitoba are ready to return to summer conditions on Thursday. After rain and mist in parts of the southwest, the sky is expected to clear this afternoon while the temperatures rise to the mid-20s in much of the region. While we won’t enjoy the same summertime feels in Winnipeg and the southeast with clouds looming, temperatures will rise well into the low 20s. For perspective, Winnipeg is forecast to reach to 21 C, while the normal high for the city for late September is 16 C. Showers further into southeastern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario will come to an end Thursday afternoon. Daytime highs will be cooler in Ontario, with more seasonal temperatures near 13 C to 15 C. There is a low chance of Thursday afternoon showers across northern Manitoba, where temperatures remain unseasonably warm. The northernmost areas will reach the mid-teens, while areas further south will see highs in the upper teens and low 20s. Ahead Thursday night, fog could develop in various parts of Manitoba in light winds and fresh precipitation on the ground. We will see a rotation of sunny and rainy days ahead in Winnipeg. Sunshine will gradually return Friday ahead of a soggy start to the weekend on Saturday and sunshine Sunday. Rain returns on Monday.
