Grab the umbrella because soggy skies are here again. Light rain and showers falling across southern Manitoba reached Winnipeg by noon on Friday. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), a low pressure system from Idaho is partially responsible for widespread showers this afternoon across southern Manitoba. Aside from precipitation expected to linger into Friday evening, no severe storms are expected. Temperatures will also be slightly warmer on Friday than earlier in the week, with highs in the upper teens and low 20s forecast for southern regions this afternoon. Showers will move into northwestern Ontario late Friday night. Until then, folks there will enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud with unseasonably warm afternoon highs in the upper teens and low 20s. Much of northern and central Manitoba will also see sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud on Friday afternoon, with similarly warm temperatures in the upper teens and low 20s. A warm front associated with a low in the Northwest Territories is also bringing showers to parts of the north, according to ECCC. Showers are mostly focused on the Churchill area. The last weekend of the summer season in Winnipeg will have a fall feel but will see sunshine and continued highs in the upper teens and low 20s. The beginning of the fall season starts on Tuesday evening with the arrival of the autumnal equinox shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
