Winnipeg police have released more details about an incident where a Winnipeg Transit driver was attacked by a passenger with a weapon. According to police, officers responded to the intersection of Springfield and Gateway roads at 2:11 p.m. on Monday. Police say a youth pulled out what was believed to be a pellet gun and shot the bus driver in the hand following a dispute. The driver was taken to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. The incident prompted the Amalgamated Transit Union call for more protective equipment for bus drivers. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the youth. The major crimes unit is now investigating and is asking anyone with information or video footage to call 204-986-6219.
