The 2027 Telus Cup is heading to the Wheat City. On Thursday, the Keystone Centre announced its selection as the venue for the tournament, which serves as Hockey Canada’s National U18 Men’s Club Championship. The championship will take place at the centre’s Assiniboine Credit Union Place – a 4,600-seat arena that’s home to the Brandon Wheat Kings – and will run from April 19-25. “This event represents the very best of grassroots hockey in Canada, and we’re honoured to provide a national stage for these talented young athletes,” said Connie Lawrence, CEO and general manager of the Keystone Centre, in a news release. “It is also an incredible opportunity to showcase our facility, our community, and our passion for the game. Brandon has a proud hockey tradition, and we look forward to creating an unforgettable experience for players, fans, and visitors alike.” Hockey Canada’s annual Telus Cup brings together six elite teams from across Canada to compete for the national title. According to the Keystone Centre, next year’s event will not only spotlight Manitoba’s passion for hockey, but will generate tourism and economic activity in Brandon. “This championship will bring together the very best young players in the country while creating lasting benefits for our community,” said Dan Trotter, chair of the Wheat City TELUS Cup committee. “We look forward to working with our partners, volunteers, and residents to deliver an outstanding national championship in 2027 and a memorable experience for everyone involved.” The Keystone Centre said it will begin planning for the Telus Cup in the coming months.
