Two people injured in Highway 401 transport truck crash

A law firm is calling for witnesses of a recent Highway 3 fatal crash near Leamington to come forward.

OPP say two people were injured after two transport trucks collided on Highway 401 near the Orford Road exit in Chatham-Kent.

On Monday at 6:15 a.m., Elgin County OPP, Chatham Kent Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in the westbound lanes.

Police say the drivers from both vehicles were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Ministry of the Environment attended because of a significant diesel spill.

OPP say as a result of the investigation, a 52-year-old from Ingersoll was charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The highway was closed for several hours to complete the investigation and clean up the roadway.
