Spitfires aim to close out Guelph Storm in Game 4 road matchup

The Windsor Spitfires can sweep their first-round Ontario Hockey League playoff series against the Guelph Storm when they hit the ice tonight.

Windsor is on the road Thursday night, holding a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference quarterfinal.

Spitfires captain Liam Greentree has three goals and one assist through the first three games of the series. He says the game plan remains the same for Game 4.

“For us, it’s just being physical and managing the puck, getting shots on net and having guys at the net,” Greentree said. “Those are key points that have been successful for us so far, and that’s what we’ve got to do.”

Goaltender Joey Costanzo has faced 77 shots in the series, allowing just two goals. He has posted a 0.67 goals-against average and a .974 save percentage, along with one shutout.

Greentree says Costanzo has been a major factor in the team’s success.

“We saw it last year in the playoffs — he’s one of our best players,” Greentree said. “When he’s good back there, it gives us a lot of confidence. He’s been great for us, and if he can keep that up, we’ll be in good shape.”

Greentree says the Spitfires are confident and focused on approaching Game 4 with the same mindset they had at the start of the series.

“I’m really proud of the guys and what we’ve been able to accomplish this year,” he said. “We’ve played really well to get to this point. I’ve been here the past four years, and I think we have what it takes to win a championship.”
