More housing could be coming to south Leamington. On Tuesday night, Leamington council approved a zoning amendment for part of the Golfwood Lakes subdivision southwest of Bevel Line. Written submissions from residents raised concerns about construction traffic, townhouse heights, a pathway connection and property values, but planning staff said those issues fall outside the scope of the rezoning and would be addressed through future development agreements. Staff and the developer also confirmed the proposal has been revised from fourplexes to triplexes, reducing the number of planned units from 60 to 45. The developer said the increased lot coverage is needed mainly for covered rear patios. Council approved the rezoning unanimously.
