Hot, unsettled weather with chance of weekend showers expected in region

A stretch of hot, unsettled early summer weather is expected to grip the Windsor-Essex region, with temperatures climbing into the low 30s and gusty winds developing through the end of the week.

Environment Canada calls for for a mix of sun and cloud Thursday, with southwest winds strengthening to 20 km/h and gusting up to 40 km/h by midday. The high is expected to reach 30 C, with a UV index of 9.

The warm conditions will ease slightly overnight, with partly cloudy skies and winds diminishing in the evening. The low is forecast to drop to 17 C.

The heat continues Friday with similar conditions. A mix of sun and cloud, southwest winds gusting to 40 km/h and a high of 30 C. The UV index is expected to climb even higher to 10.

Cloud cover will increase Friday night, bringing a 30 per cent chance of showers and a low of 18 C.

More unsettled weather is forecast for the weekend. Saturday is expected to remain cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a daytime high of 28 C. Cloudy periods will persist overnight, along with a continued 40 per cent chance of showers and a low of 15 C.

Sunday will bring a mix of sun and cloud, along with a 30 per cent chance of showers. Temperatures will remain warm, reaching a high of 28 C.
