Mosaic - A Festival of Cultures is gearing up for another busy weekend in the Queen City, with 19 different pavilions setting up across Regina. This year, the festival is welcoming the Persian community for the first time in their history. “With a growing Persian community in Regina, we have the resources and willingness to make this happen,” said Hasan Moradi, a co-organizer at the Persian Pavilion. The group submitted an application in the second half of 2025. The Persian pavilion is looking to symbolize cultural components such as the Persian New Year, as well as the Cyrus cylinder, a symbol of Iranian history. “It is the first known universal human rights chapter in the world potentially, as a symbol of justice, balance, faith and, equality and religions and ethnicities in Iran,” Moradi explained. After not participating last year, the Morita Romanian Pavilion is returning, looking to highlight traditional dances and cultural dishes. “We have mici, which is basically a garlic caseless sausage, we have chicken. we have meatball soup. pierogis, and amazing desserts,” said Monica Cliveti, an organizer with the Miorita Romanian Pavilion. The dessert that they’re modifying is the cremeschnitte, which is typically made in a pastry-like shape. This year, they’re looking to highlight the Romanian dessert in glass. Meanwhile, the Latino Pavilion is one of the few that will be highlighting the culture of many countries, including Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and El Salvador. “Most people think that we are the same, but we are not the same. We have, similar things regarding the food, drinks, music. but at the same time, each country has their own magic, their own culture, their own thing,” said Romina Rinaldi, a volunteer organizer with the Latino Pavilion. The festival runs until Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online or at any of the 19 pavilions.
