Gas in Windsor-Essex expected to go up five cents Wednesday

Gas in the region is expected to go up five cents per litre on Wednesday.

According to GasWizard.ca, Tuesday’s average gas price is 175.9 for regular, 205.9 for premium, and 232.9 for diesel. Wednesday, that is projected to go up to 180.9 for regular and 210.9 for premium.

Good news though for diesel users, it is projected to go down to 227.9.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is now calling for the federal and provincial governments to take action and offer Canadians relief.

“The least they could do would be just temporarily suspend their fuel taxes,” said Franco Terrazzano, federal director f the CTF.

He added he wants the tax cut to be permanent, saying total taxes on gas is almost 65 cents per litre in some cities.

“There are many Canadians out there who were already struggling, and now that you can see these gas prices soaring, it’s making life more expensive,” Terrazzano said.
