Who says builders can’t have a little fun at the job? More than 30 Windsor-Essex builders, designers, and business owners traded tool belts Friday for a fundraiser, playing finger soccer tournament for Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex. Finger soccer involves using your fingers to flick a ball across a surface to score goals. The host, Felix Culpa Architecture, hopes that this effort will gain traction in the community as a yearly event. The finger soccer contest was part of an overall networking get together that brought Windsor-area architects and builders together to enjoy a barbeque and have fun. The event raised $3,000 for the not-for-profit organization. Brad Smith, architect, is owner of Felix Culpa Architecture in Windsor. Smith, his team, and the participants were enthusiastic about the gathering for a charitable cause. “We wanted to bring another partner into the fold that we all kind of support in our own different ways too,” said Smith. “That’s Habitat for Humanity. So, we’re able to give them some money from the community to help keep building dreams for people in the community.” Habitat for Humanity’s revenue, including donations and their local Habitat ReStore operations, are reinvested directly into local building, repair, and community housing initiatives.
