Essex County OPP say a driver has been charged after going 63 kilometres per hour over the speed limit on Highway 3 in Essex.

An officer on patrol on Highway 3 says they saw a vehicle travelling at a very unsafe speed of 143 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

A 23-year-old from the Municipality of Leamington was issued a 30 day drivers licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days. They have a court date in July.

“We have all seen these drivers on our Highways, there is no need to drive like this and put everyone else’s safety at risk. We all have a responsibility in keeping our roadways safe,” say OPP in a post on social media.
