A new development may be coming to the Town of Tecumseh. A report brought to council detailing a commercial development that includes a five-story hotel and five separate retail buildings at 2575 Manning Road. “Anytime you have any type of development in a community it’s worth being excited about,” said Gary McNamara, Tecumseh Mayor. “We need good news with what’s happening in the U.S. and the tariff issue and the automotive industry.” A public meeting to discuss a zoning by-law amendment application is scheduled for Aug. 12. This comes as another new hotel nears completion. TownePlace Suites by Marriott, located at 1600 Sylvestre Drive, is expected to open in three months. It includes 142 extended-stay rooms with a fitness centre and swimming pool. “To see developers come in with confidence where they’re ready to spend multi-millions of dollars in the community because we believe in the community. That’s good news,” added McNamara.
