Cold snap continues with flurries and wind chills

Windsor-Essex residents can expect more cold winter conditions with a mix of sun, increasing cloudiness, and intermittent flurries throughout the upcoming week.

Environment Canada says wind chill values will remain a significant factor, making temperatures feel much colder than they actually are.

New Year’s Day began mainly sunny, but cloudiness is expected to increase in the afternoon, bringing with it a few flurries. A brisk west wind will blow at 30 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h. The high temperature will reach -7 Celsius, with wind chill making it feel as cold as -20 Thursday morning and -14 Thursday afternoon.

As for tonight, flurries are expected to end overnight, followed by cloudy skies with a 40 per cent chance of additional flurries. Local amounts of up to 2 cm of snow are possible. The west wind will continue at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h. The low will be -8 C, with wind chill near -15.

Saturday, Jan. 3: Expect a mix of sun and cloud. The high temperature will be -3 C.

Saturday night: Conditions will be cloudy periods with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. The low will drop to -6 C.

Sunday, Jan. 4: The forecast calls for cloudy skies with a high of -1 C.

Sunday night: It will remain cloudy with a low of -2 C.

Monday, Jan. 5: Expect cloudy conditions with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. The high will climb to +2 degrees Celsius.

Monday night: Skies will be cloudy with a low of 3 C.

Tuesday, Jan. 6: The day will be cloudy with a high of 4 C.

Tuesday night: Cloudy conditions persist with a low of 1 C.

Wednesday, Jan. 7: Cloudy skies are expected to continue, accompanied by a 40 per cent chance of flurries. The high temperature will be 3 C.
