Windsor police say a 34-year-old man has been charged twice in less than a month for impaired driving-related offences. Officers were called to the intersection of Bruce Avenue and University Avenue West following a report of a driver nodding off at the wheel, shortly before 12 p.m. on July 20. Upon arrival, officers located the male driver. While speaking with him, officers say they observed signs of impairment and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he failed a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation. The man has since been charged with: • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug • Driving while under suspension He had previously been charged after a similar incident on June 27, when officers were called to the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue for a report of two unconscious people inside a running vehicle. Officers found the man slumped over the driver’s side window. Police say after observing signs of impairment, they arrested him and transported him to police headquarters, where he failed a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation.
