478 vehicle thefts investigated by Windsor police in 2025

Windsor police have released the auto theft statistics for 2025, including almost 500 investigations.

The Auto Theft Unit (ATU) focused on reducing vehicle thefts and improving recovery rates across Windsor and Amherstburg in 2025.

Here are the ATU statistics for:

478 reported vehicle thefts investigated

70 per cent of stolen vehicles recovered, with 66% located within three days

16 vehicles were stolen while left running

30 were stolen as a result of carjackings, break-and-enters, or home invasions.

The unit investigates all reported motor vehicle thefts and partners with frontline officers and community stakeholders, prioritizes prevention, rapid recovery, and data-driven investigations.
