12 week closure expected for a section of County Road 20 in Kingsville

A section of County Road 20 in Kingsville will be closed for 12 weeks this spring.

Mayor Dennis Rogers says watermain work on County Road 20 between Heritage Road and McCain Sideroad is expected to begin later this month.

He says a start date has not been officially set, but the town has let the community know about the upcoming work.

Rogers says the town received a $9 million grant from the province last year for the work, and council recently approved the last tender for it.

“It’s going to be about 12 weeks,” said Rogers.

“We appreciate everybody’s patience with it, but this is an exciting project. Obviously, it’s going to open up capacity for future growth but would also provide redundancy for a lot of the homes on the west side, helping with the water pressure on that side.”

He says the town has already heard from some residents about the upcoming project. Rodgers is asking for patience.

“We hate for interruption on the business side, so the road will still be open; you can access those businesses. We just appreciate everybody’s patience,” said Rogers.

“We know the impact when we have construction on Main Street and County Road 20, so our team is going to be all over it just to ensure we’re hitting our timelines and obviously the road stays open to be able to access our businesses and local traffic.”

The town says County Road 20 between Heritage Road and McCain Sideroad will be limited to local traffic for the duration of the project.

Motorists are asked to follow the detour route to avoid traffic delays.

The town says properties and businesses located within the construction zone will continue to be accessible throughout the project via County Road 20, and businesses will remain open.
