Vehicle flips on its roof after high-speed crash, New Westminster police say

The New Westminster Police Department says it is considering criminal charges following a high-speed crash earlier this week.

Police say they responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 6^th Avenue and McBride Boulevard around 11 p.m. on March 30.

Both vehicles were damaged significantly, and one was travelling so fast that it flipped into nearby hedges and landed on its roof, police said.

Some of the people in the flipped vehicle went to a local hospital “of their own accord” and the driver of the second vehicle did not appear injured, according to the NWPD.

“With the amount of damage these vehicles sustained it’s a miracle no one was seriously hurt,” Sgt. Jacquelyn Mula said, in a news release Thursday. “Based off the circumstances surrounding this collision, criminal charges are being considered.”

The NWPD also gave a reminder about the potential consequences of high-risk driving.

“Making poor choices behind the wheel can result in life-changing injuries or death for vulnerable road users, your passengers, or yourself,” the release reads. “Officers encourage everyone to drive with common sense and respect for other road users.”
