Mounties say a Vancouver-based social media influencer is facing six charges in a human trafficking investigation that spanned British Columbia and Ontario. The suspect, 31-year-old Tevin Douglas, was charged last week with one count each of trafficking a person, procuring a person to provide sexual services, materially benefiting from trafficking, materially benefiting from sexual services, sexual assault and advertising sexual services, according to police. The charges were approved by provincial prosecutors on Feb. 20 after the B.C. RCMP’s counter human trafficking unit launched an investigation targeting the suspect in May 2025. In a statement released Friday, the B.C. RCMP said the alleged victim in the case was trafficked throughout B.C.’s Lower Mainland and in the Greater Toronto Area. Investigators say the offences allegedly took place between July 1, 2023, and Dec. 1, 2023. Douglas was arrested at his home in Vancouver, where a search warrant was executed with assistance from the Vancouver Police Department, the Burnaby RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team. He was released from custody on Feb. 24 under several conditions, police said. Insp. Lyndsay O’Ruairc of the counter human trafficking unit says investigators believe there are people with information related to the case who have yet to come forward. “Human trafficking is rarely confined to a single victim or even a single province,” O’Ruairc said in a statement. “Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their local police of jurisdiction. Each province has dedicated human trafficking investigators who understand the experiences of victims and can provide support regardless of whether someone is ready to pursue a criminal investigation.” The inspector added that the safety of those involved in any investigation is “always the priority.” RELATED STORIES:
