Air Canada flights at Vancouver International Airport continue to be cancelled Friday as the airline and the flight attendants’ union have yet to strike a new deal. Scheduled flights to Miami, Denver, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Frankfurt, and Osaka are currently among the grounded flights from Vancouver. The cancellations are occurring on the final day before a potential work stoppage that could shut down all Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flights. More than 10,000 flight attendants are expected to walk off the job on Saturday, followed by a company-imposed lockout if the two sides can’t reach an 11th-hour deal. Air Canada told reporters on Thursday that more than 500 flights are expected to be impacted on Friday ahead of the stoppage. The airline has mentioned that eligible passengers will be notified through email and text messages, and YVR is urging Air Canada passengers not to come to the airport unless they have a confirmed flight. Impacted Air Canada customers are being offered full refunds and the company says it is also allowing customers to change their travel plans without a fee.
