An investigation is underway after three wildfires were reported in Grand Forks, B.C., within five hours. The local fire department posted about the incidents online, saying the three blazes were reported on Hardy Mountain between 9 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday. “The first two fire were relatively small and were dealt with in a short period of time,” the online statement from Grand Forks Fire Rescue said. The third fire, however, was significantly larger and spread to approximately 70 metres by 120 metres. “The fire was spreading in all directions, but was not close to any structures,” the post from the department said, adding “due to the number of fires, their proximity and timing, the circumstances are considered suspicious.” The RCMP and the B.C. Wildfire Service have been notified, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
